QUEST Connects Across Canada

QUEST caucuses are gearing up across the country. Currently caucuses are active in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. Nova Scotia will be up and running in early 2010, and New Brunswick has expressed interest. QUEST intends on having caucuses in all provinces and territories in the future. If you are interested in participating in any of the provincial caucuses or if you would like to see one started in your province, please contact Tonja Leach.

QUEST British Columbia Priorities

QUEST Ontario Priorities

  1. Support the development a stable policy framework in Ontario that enables the wide-scale adoption of Integrated Community Energy Solutions (ICES).
  2. Influence provincial, municipal and private sector decisions so that they support the implementation of ICES; targeted decisions include municipal RFPs for services or land development; development of municipal community energy plans; development of Official Plans.
  3. Support municipalities and energy utilities in undertaking effective planning processes that link energy and land use planning.
  4. Connect municipal governments, energy utilities, the development industry and suppliers of the parts that create ICES.
  5. Determine the pros and cons of district energy in the Ontario context; when does it make sense, and from what perspectives

QUEST Québec Preliminary Priorities

QUEST Québec has started defining its mandate, mission and priorities. Preliminary ideas discussed include:

  1. Emphasize on transportation and urban sprawl issues
  2. Target reduction of energy intensity
  3. Optimize energy use both from a quantity and quality point of view
  4. Regulatory framework
  5. Influence municipal decision makers
